Timing regarding radiation after surgery

My wife started with chemo which wrapped in December followed by a double mastectomy Jan 24th. She has had no form of treatment aside from breast expansion since then and we are getting worried about the fact that it looks like the radiation won't start until the 10 week mark. Hormone therapy will follow. Did anyone else go through such a long gap? I know neoadjuvant works a bit differently but it's worrisome when no systematic treatment has happened since December and pathology showed one unclear margin.

Tom, I just asked a similar question in another thread and of my RO last week because I was scheduled to do the radiation set-up appt this week (5 weeks post-op) but she wants to get more opinions about whether I should have another surgery to clear my margins and for me to have an MRI next week. So if they decide to do another lumpectomy, I'll be 10 weeks post-op before radiation set-up.

Anyway, one woman in the thread told me she started radiation 3 months out--and the doc told me she prefers to start within 2 months but up to 3 is okay with her.

Hi Tom. My radiologist told me up to three months is ok. I finished surgery on 5 th November and didn't start radiotherapy until 2nd February.

I was worried about that myself before starting rads because there was the possibility of a delay, and found a study that showed no differences up to 12 weeks post surgery.
