I am in the process of signing up for a non-drug clinical trial at Sloan Kettering specifically for Her2+ people with MBC. It is a phase 1 trial for a new imaging/screening tool, similar to a pet-scan, designed to see Her2+ cells. While a PET uses sugar to isolate and show cancer cells, this will use a different/new kind of radioactive dye that could potentially show Her2 cancer cells, without needing a biopsy. Also, unlike a pet-scan, they can include the brain in this new type of scan - it will be brain to thigh.

They will then compare the scans done with this new tool vs my previous scans (pet, CT, and brain MRIs) to see if there are any differences.

Since I have both triple positive and triple negative breast cancers co-exisiting in me, I am a great candidate for this trial and could potentially help my doctors with treatment decisions down the line (if it works). I am happy to be a guinea pig in the name of advancing science and helping others living with MBC.
