Adriamycin allergy??

Hi ladies! I was recently diagnosed 02/20/2017. I know there are few treatments for TNBC, so I'm trying to get some insight from *hopefully* someone who has been through this. I did my first round of AC on 03/08/2017. I had an allergic reaction, but we thought it was to one of the pre-meds. We took that pre-med out for the next round and as soon as the nurse pushed the Adria, I instantly broke out in hives again. They pumped me full of benadryl and tried the Adria again, but my throat and tongue swelled by the time they got half in. So AC is not going to be an option for me. My oncologist said in 13 years and 3000 new BC patients a year, she has never seen anyone allergic to it. I'm having a hard time finding any info. She mentioned for my next round she wants to try Epirubicin, but I will more than likely be allergic to that as well (they seem to be very similar make-ups). Have ANY of you had an AC allergy and successful treatment otherwise? What other options are there??

    BabyKeegs716,

I wasn't allergic, but the Adriamycin was a bad idea because it is very hard on the heart. BUT, I was told that dropping that out of the regimen would only change my chance of survival and cure by 1%, so there wasn't much benefit there to justify the risk. Instead, I did a straight course (six rounds) of Cytoxin and Taxotare, and eight years later all is well.

Sorry for the rough start. Good luck to you.
