Hi all,

I'm Dawn Lee, and I'm pretty new here. I've been absorbing every thread I can since my DX in February. The monthly surgery threads have been really helpful, and I don't see one yet for April, so I thought I'd start one.

I'm having bilateral mastectomies and immediate DIEP flap at NOLA on April 6. My mom is coming with me, and we'll be flying into NOLA April 3rd. I'd love to connect with other women undergoing surgery next month.

hello my English is not the best please bear with me.

I am confused about the treatment offered by my BCCC team. When I was diagnosed with IDC stage 2 grade 3 back in 2/13/17 and the lump was 5cm they recommended a lumpectomy on my right breast, then radiation then chemo then 5-10 yrs of hormone treatment. Lymph nodes were negative still in February. I am only 39 so they recommended a genetics test. So I waited till 3/14th to get a negative results. I want a BMX more than ever bcz the lump has grown to the size of an egg since the diagnosis but my surgery isn't until 4/10. Its hard not to ignore since i am a size AA and i cant lay face down bcz it bothers me. My question is why didn't they see necessary to give me chemo to shrink the lump while they make me wait for the surgery?
