21 years old. Biopsy on three enlarged lymph nodes
Hi. I'm a 21 year old female who is extremely healthy. Just a couple days ago I had an ultrasound done on my armpit which found three enlarged axillary lymph nodes that are matted/connected together. The radiologist went ahead and did a fine needle biopsy and I am anxiously waiting for the results. I am extremely worried about breast cancer or even lymphoma. Has anyone here have enlarge lymph nodes in their armpit come back benign before?

Yes I have! I had one removed actually from my left armpit after they did the FNA and it came back benign. Armpit nodes can enlarge for many reasons like shaving cuts, etc..
-
is it normal for them to feel like they're connected together too?
-
Yes it is normal. I had nine axillary nodes removed and they were all in a clump. My BS said that is typical.
-
Hi dAd,
The lymph nodes that were in a clump, were they found to be benign?
-
Six were benign.
-
sorry if I'm being repetitive, but I just wanted to clarify that your BS said it's normal for benign lymph nodes to be in a clump or connected together?
-
Sorry - I should have elaborated. Six were benign and three plus one sentinel node were positive but I have Stage 3 breast cancer and it is very unlikely that you do.
-
so two lymph nodes that are connected together does not necessarily mean it's malignant?
-
-
everything I found online points to "'matted" lymph nodes being malignant... this is truly relieving.
-
is it also normal for benign lymph nodes to be round
-
I replied on your other thread.

Mybrother had lumps in his armpit like this and it turned out it was caused by his deodorant.

I have invasive ductal carcinoma, and an MRI showed swollen lymph nodes in both underarms at the time of my diagnosis. I also had a very large lymph node in my neck, just above my collar bone. I had a sentinel node biopsy on my breast cancer side, and they came back negative. I was so worried about the swollen lymph node in my neck, that I insisted to have a needle biopsy done when the ultrasound showed both favorable and unfavorable characteristics of it. My neck node also came back negative for cancer.
I am having a double mastectomy on March 31st and they will do a sentinel node biopsy on the opposite side too, just to be sure. I am hoping that comes back negative also. My point is - my lymph nodes are extremely swollen, and they were not cancer even when I have cancer. They can swell for anything (even a little acne).

Hi ladies! I'm sorry for the late response but I just got my biopsy results for my lymph nodes today and they were benign! My mammogram showed three extremely suspicious, swollen, and matted lymph nodes but the biopsy came out benign!!
i just wanted to thank you ladies for all the support. You're all amazi
