Abraxane

Has anyone been treated with Abraxane....a friend of mine has liver cancer....she was told they are going to use Abraxane with another drug as a precaution to surgery to remove 40% of her liver....she is hesitant about doing this since she has already had 2 BMX and not sure what she wants to do...she is 81, and really upset about the "new chemo".........I thought you ladies might be able to share how you have done on this drug, and please be honest..........thanks

I had severe reactions to taxotere and taxol, Abraxane has been pretty easy on me and my tumor shrunk by a 1/3 half way through chemo. I recommend searching Abraxane here,there's another thread on it already and it has several comments.

Thanks llimae........have researched it sounds brutal.....but you seem to have had a better result......this person had 40% of her liver removed....it is liver cancer even though she had 2 bouts of BC....this is not related it is a totally new caner........biopsy showed that.......I know they use this for Pancreatic cancer.....my husband dies from that 25 years ago....this drug was not available then.....but Pancreatic is normally a fatal disease........anyway.....they are using Abraxane for her liver chemo........I do belive they are adding another drug too.....she goes tomorrow to talk to her Onc about what they want to do........thanks for your feedback......glad to hear it has been kind to you......good luck............
