I'm so relieved and so thankful I went through with the MRI, and that I asked for a printed copy of the report for myself BEFORE my appointment (I just didn't want to be taken by surprise in the Dr.'s office).

Impression:

1. There are no findings suspicious for breast malignancy.

2. Extreme fibroglandular tissue bilaterally. Benign 6mm cyst in the retroareolar region of the left breast.

Recommendation:

Given the elevated risk of breast malignancy in this patient, yearly followup screening mammography and breast MRI is recommended. If desired, these could be staggered so that surveillance imaging is performed at six-month intervals.

BI-RADS Category 2: Benign

Now I have to be honest, since my symptoms were on the left side, I was nervous about the cyst (especially since it wasn't found on the mammogram or u/s), but my husband was quickly able to "talk me off the cliff".

I'm so thankful for these results, and thankful for this community!

I'm so happy for you!! Was your MRI done with contrast?

    Thank you ladies!

Yes, the MRI was done with contrast. Still not sure what the bulge is in my armpit that hurts. My Dr. and husband (who is also a physician) saw and felt it, but I'm thinking now it has to be completely unrelated, just coincidentally on my left side. I was told the MRI with contrast would show anything and everything that could be there, so I'm hoping the discomfort there and around my left breast will just go away sooner than later. I'm hoping my DR will be able to give me some good advice when I see her later today. It really feels like a huge weight has been lifted!
