Hi All: I am new to the group. After countless tests, etc. it was determined I had ALH in September and I had a surgical biopsy in October. Even though it is small potatoes compared to major breast surgery, a decent chunk of cells were removed, the scar subsequently got infected, it was quite a process. I can feel the wire they left in my breast. For the past two days in has been aching. Do you think it could have moved or become infected internally? Or can my left breast now predict major snow storms? ;-) any feedback appreciated. Thank you

Dmd, they remove the wire and clip when they do the excision.

Lots of us (and who didn't even have an infection) have sharp, "zingy" or "zappy" feeling pains for quite a while off & on. I was told it's cut nerves trying to regenerate. If it really hurts a lot I might check in with the doc in case it could still have an unresolved pocket of infection.

thanks, Melissa. Both my clip and wire were not removed. Because there is no actual lump, just area of asymmetry I was told they are left in in case there is a need to go in again, to help locate the area

I have a marker in my breast from a previous biopsy, so--like you said--they can find the spot in the future. I saw it when they put it in and it is like a snippet of wire. Mine was inserted 18 months ago and yes it still hurts. When I went for my last mammogram they ended up having to do a spot magnification on something else near that spot and it hurt A LOT. The technician talked like this was normal, since I had a marker near there.
