Back again.
Last year I was on here because I had a biopsy that turned out to be a fibroadenoma. I had a 6 month follow up mammogram that was fine. But today I went to my yearly mammogram and I go another call back on the same breast. So I am frustrated and worried again. All the info I have is "additional views needed left breast mass."
Is is common to continue to call backs with fibroadenomas? I have two. One is (or was) 1.5 cm and the other is 2.5 cm. Sigh.

Hi C4ndy,
I don't know how common it is, but unfortunately I have the same problem. Even though I'm in my late 40's, I've had a new fibroadenoma pop up each year for the last 3 years (2 on the right, one on the left), plus a bunch of cysts, so I know how stressful repeated callbacks can be. I hope eveything turms out to be benign for you!

I am 45. I know that one appeared since I turned 40--so that thing about how only young women get them is false.

I am looking at my records and I am wondering if they goofed. I got the screening mammogram and it seems that I was supposed to get the diagnostic mammogram as a matter of course. I am thinking this because they have already entered orders for me to have one a year from now.
Would they do yearly diagnostic mammograms for Fibroadenomas ?

I would check with your doctor or imaging center about this. Your imaging needs to be followed up in the short term. I know when my call-back orders go in, there is some kind of a 'complete by' date (I don't remember exactly what they call it), although for my provider it is a much shorter period - maybe 3 months. My impression was that if I didn't get it the imaging completed by that date, it would have to be 'ordered' again, but I have always gone back well before the posted date. I'm wondering if that is the case here, and they're just giving you a long time before the order 'expires'. Since you will need to schedule your current call-back imaging, you may be able to confirm whether this is the case.
I'm no expert and can't speak to how other hospitals or providers work, but I can tell you that even with my 'busy breasts' and high risk (LCIS, family history, extremely dense breasts), my annual 3D mammo is done as a screening, not diagnostic (but I also alternate with MRI so I have some sort of imaging done every 6 months).

yes, this is probably the case. They r giving me a year to complete them, but I already scheduled tests. I go tomorrow.
I did schedule an appointment with the ordering doctor today who is my primary physician. She would have access to the mammogram report wouldn't she? I am a bi frustrated at having no info and am just dreading going though this whole think again am just want more info

I guess I am just worried out of my mind. I am the sole caregiver to my husband who suffered a Bain injury about 10 years ago. We have no kids. If something happens to me or I have to undergo cancer treatment, I worry about what will happen to him. He's not good enough to live in his own, but too good to live in a home.

Hi C4ndy:
Hugs to you. How frustrating to have to wait for more tests and then results. But at least they take it seriously and are following up. You sound caring about your husband. If you do need to undergo any treatment, support can be found for the both of you. These boards are a great place for you to vent and get info for example. You matter too.
Hugs and am crossing all fingers and toes that your imaging is just a massive inconvenience and everything is B9.

Yes, it was a massive inconvenience, I am glad to report. The spot was nothing more than a small cyst.
Thank you so much for listening.

C4ndy;
Wonderful news! You have made my weekend!
Best wishes to you.
