Waiting on biopsy

Hello...right before I went in for my 6 month mammogram I found a palpable mass in my right armpit. It was very hard, didn't hurt at all, and couldn't get it to move at all. By the time I got into my mammogram I had it for 3.5 weeks with no changes. My bilateral mammogram was clear, but my auxiliary area showed a mass that was irregular in shape and had finger like projections. The Ultrasound tech and doctor agreed they didn't know what it was, they thought originally a cyst when they felt it but the edges were troublesome. I went for a surgery consult the next day Friday, and surgery three days later, this past Monday. The surgeons report said she removed a mass and biopsied it, and has me scheduled for a follow up the 22nd. The language of it being a cyst was absent from her report. My mammogram report was just released today, and they mentioned thickening skin around the mass, irregular edges and a tract reaching out/growing out. Also they gave me a birad 4... I've had two other excisional biopsies for papillomas in my ducts. When I had those they tried to make me feel better and biopsied it sterotactically and the then excised it. This time they said they didn't want to open it stereotactically, that the surgeon should remove it in whole. What are my chances that this is nothing, and what else could it even be?

Ljv1979, I don't have answers to your questions, unfortunately. I just wanted to say that I'm so sorry you're having to go through this anxious waiting period before you get your answers. If it is any consolation, 80% of BIRADS 4 biopsies are B9 findings of some sort. I think wanting to remove your lump whole is practicing wise caution, if there is even a small risk of it not being benign. Experts are certainly questioning how frequently tumor-seeding happens in bc, and taking reasonable precautions is a good standard of care. I am hoping you're able to take good care of yourself during the awful waiting period. Sending you healing light and ((hugs)) Please let us know how you're doing
