Starting chemotherapy March 2017

Hello. I know you went through this a year ago; however, I just started my first chemo treatment (Taxotere and Cytoxan) on April 6. I enjoyed your post because you had everything I have had for my first treatment. Today is Day 15 and I'm just now experiencing hair loss. My question for you (I hope you are still active on here) is how did the remaining chemo treatments go for you? And did your hair come back?
-
Robyn....I don't think that your message was for me, since I had Taxol and AC. My hair fell out on Day 19 from Taxol, which I had first, and grew back while I was on AC, probably from all of the steroids. I have a couple of balding patches that I am treating with steroids given by my dermatologist. Most people don't even notice, but it is a bit worriome to me.
Right now, just focus on taking care of yourself. Best of luck with your treatment.

Hi Robyn ,
Yes, your hair will grow back and usually comes back thicker and curly. Everybody's side effects and symptoms are different though.
I tended to get more tired with each treatment and am still tired , even with exercise.
Taxotere and Cytoxan is manageable. How many sessions are you having?

Just celebrated 1 year post chemo on August 31st!
I am well...work is going well...I've been on some nice vacations.. only issue: my hair fell out again! Seeing a specialist tomorrow about a new treatment for this type of alopecia. Hopefully I qualify and it will work...
-
scrafgal - congrats on the one year mark! Glad you are living life !
Keep us posted on the hair - hope the new treatment works
You have tried tried biotin I assume ? I also swear by warm oil scalp massages
All the best!
-
thanks Tara
Biotin won't work for this type of alopecia. Likely I will take a new drug treatment in about a month. Getting it cleared with my MO now...
-
hope your MO gives the green light and reallly hoping the treatment works Scrafgal ! Xoxo
