Post Ultrasound/Awaiting Bioposy
Hi y'all! About a month ago, I noticed some changes in my right breast. I had an exam with an OB/GYN a week later, and she suspected it was just fibrocystic changes. However, she felt a lump in my left breast; so she referred me to get an ultrasound on both. I had it last Friday and the results came quickly so I met with her on Monday. The mass came back as BIRADS 4 (unsure what letter). What worries me are the characteristics listed- irregular shape, angular margins, hypoechoic, and color vascularity. I know they don't all mean malignancy, and if it was that bad, it would be a 5, but just from the research I've done, I'm concerned. I don't worry about things often, and I'm young & in fine health otherwise, but the science side of it and the frequency that these characteristics are/aren't malignant have me preparing for the worst. I have a core needle biopsy scheduled for Monday, soonest I could get in, and follow-up will be a week later. So a week and a half of wondering if it is what my gut says it is. I KNOW most lumps are benign. But then the chances of an irregular, angular, hypoechoic mass with color vascularity being a fibroadenoma isn't likely either.
Its nice to get that concern and thought out! Is anyone else going through something similar, or has been that can lend some advising words?

GraceKate,
I don't have any similar experience to share, but I did want to say that you are doing the right thing by following up appropriately and trying to inform (but not alarm) yourself. There are many technical terms that can be very scary when they're used about your breast/body. Many of them can be applied to both benign and malignancy, as you stated. My advice would be to continue seeking clarification, and taking good care of yourself in the meantime. Use relaxation and distraction as you need to and get support only from trusted friends/family that will keep your concerns private (as right now, it is only concerns, no diagnosis). I am sending you healing light and ((Hugs)), hoping for B9 results for you.

Hi Grace-
I had a very concerning mammo and ultrasound too. I don't know all the details you posted but I have and inverted nipple, lump and my armpit lump nodes are abnormal (enlarged?) I got my biopsy yesterday and hope to have results mid week next week. When do you extrovert hear back

momojcbc- My biopsy is on Monday (13th), and I have my follow-up schedule for the following Monday (20th) as long as the path results are back by then. That week wait is going to kill me!

I am in the same boat. Trying to focus on other things, but its so hard! How old are you? I am 37.

I'm 22! My biopsy went okay. I got very weak and lightheaded from blood loss (don't forget to eat a light meal first!) and was sore for a few days. I called the imaging center today and they said the results were already sent to my doctor- but the office is closed right now for a "function" (st pattys day party, perhaps) so I'm hoping to get in tomorrow for my follow-up appt instead of waiting until Monday for my scheduled appt for results!

Hoping for B9 results fro you GraceKate!
