    DeannaCathey,

So sorry you are dealing with breast health but glad you found your way here. BIRADS 5 equates to highly suspicious for cancer with a positive predictive value somewhere between 80-97%. did they schedule you for a biopsy? that would be the typical next step. Only a biopsy can tell you for certain what type of cells are there. Sending you ((hugs)) Waiting is the absolute worst!!

The radiologist told me someone will call tomorrow to set up a biopsy or removal. That's what has me confused.

    Hi!

Yes, that would be the next step -- a biopsy. You could get a core biopsy, which takes a sample of your lump, or you could get an excisional biopsy, which removes the entire lump.

Read your report carefully. Mine was birads 5 and the mammo/ultrasound report said with that rating even if a biopsy came back clean the recommendation was to remove the entire lump. I did not do a biopsy and had the lump removed and it was cancer. So basically I saved myself a procedure

Talk to your doctors and be very clear about whether they will recommend a lumpectomy/excisional biopsy no matter what.
