Liver, peritoneal carcinomatosis and bone mets

Dear all,

Any insight of how we will cope with this? Liver mets and peritoneal carcinomatosis that has worsened 2 years from diagnosis with stage 4 breast cancer( IDC with bone, liver, ovarian mets).

We live in Kuwait and doctors here seem to say that we have exhausted most chemotherapy and hormonal therapy might take too long to work.

Ascites needs to be drained nearly biweekly and what with the leg swelling too..getting out of bed alone is hard work.

Any tips on good centres in USA that can deal with this stage of MBC and help please?

Chemo tried: Taxol,EC, halaven

Hormonal therapy: tamoxifen, xeloda

Radiotherapy too.

Thank you all.

Hi AAM: Rather than continuing this thread, I think you will get responses and help if you post under "Peritoneal Carcinomatosis" in this same forum. Anne

AAM, I don't know what meds are approved for use in Kuwait, but there are quite a few more than you have listed available in the US, as well as trials of yet-unapproved drugs. I think one of the keys -- aside from the ascites, which I know nothing about -- is how well your blood counts are holding up, and can you endure additional treatments at this point?

Here's a list of what are considered the top notch cancer treatment centers in the US. https://www.cancer.gov/research/nci-role/cancer-ce...

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe Johns Hopkins actually does long distance phone consultations. You might start by contacting them.

Good luck, and don't give up hope!
