Rash a week after surgery
An itchy rash developed on the breast a week after lumpectomy, but not at the incision site. Has anyone experienced this, and if so how was it treated

I had a mild reaction to the skin prep they used on me, you could actually see the outline of where the substance was. It eventually went away on it's own.

Emilee - if the rash continues, you should mention it to your surgeon. Or check with your dermatologist.

Hi Emilie88. I had a rash after stereotactic biopsy on my left breast. Then I had DMX for DCIS, no rash. However after multiple reconstruction surgeries and various abdominal surgeries (had 12 altogether in 4 yrs), I had a rash after many of my surgeries. Turned out to be a drug allergy to Ancef and Keflex, both antibiotics. Also discovered an allergy to adhesive. Hope that helps. My rash was never near the incision site.

Hello everyone... I haven't posted much lately. Was diognosed with DCIS two years after being treat for IDC on opposite breast. My question is what website can I find pictures of Paget's disease. I have searched everywhere and can only find a few.

probably didn't post in the right place. My concern is That I have a rash on my right breast where I had surgery (lumpectomy) DCIS in 2016 that won't go away. It itches not unbearable like I read that some do. My nipple is a little thick. The rash is very small dime size or a little smaller. BUT it just does feel right. When I saw my surgeon 6 months after radiation he ask me how long that rash has been there. I told him it was dry skin. He said if it doesn't clear up let me know. It hasn't clears up I put a cortisone cream on it that they gave me during radiation it gets better but never goes away. Then when I quit using it it comes back. The o

Susug, what did your sugeon say when you told him? ("he said if it doesn't clear up let me know")
-
Or make an appointment with a dermatologist

I haven't told him that it hasn't cleared up yet. I have appointment to see him in 2 weeks. I am trying to find some photos of what it looks like with a mild rash. Or how it looks when symptoms first start showing I have read that some have rashes and some don't also some have sever symptoms such as nipple bleeding. Does anyone know of w website where I can look at some pics? Thank you MinisTwo and MTwomen for responding.
-
Susug - you should NOT be trolling the web to try to find pictures. You can't diagnose yourself anymore than we can diagnose you. And stay away from Google. Much if the information is outdated - not to mention downright wrong. You will only be letting yourself in for scare stories. Please save yourself from aggravating your worry.
If you can't control the anxiety of waiting, and we do know waiting is terrible, call and see if they can get you in sooner. Or call your PCP for something to calm your anxiety.
-
I agree with MinusTwo. Your surgeon wanted to know if it continued, so call the office and let them know, so they may be able to get you in sooner. Googling pictures is a bad idea, only tends to increase anxiety.

I had a biopsy done on my right areola yesterday to rule out Paget's. Now it's just wait and hear.
-
Oh no, Susug! ((hugs)) Hope you get good news soon.
-
Thank you MTwomen.
