Wednesday I had a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound for a palpable lump near my nipple on the right breast. The lump did not show up on either mammogram or ultrasound. Then radiologist wanted more pictures of left breast (with no known mass) and he came back and told me I have a large area of concern that is not a cyst and that he wants to biopsy. Biopsy is scheduled for Thursday (3/9).

My NP called and told me she was referring me to a breast surgeon to further investigate the lump that she and I both felt but that didn't show up on mammo or ultrasound. Now I'm getting very concerned. I went in with a lump on the right and left with a biopsy needed for the left.

Has this happened to anyone else? What could the lump be that isn't showing up? Is it more worrisome that I also have a mass on the left too? The lump I can feel feels like a rock. I can't feel the left mass at all.

Anna - sorry for your worries. Just a tip - It would be easier if you continued to post on your existing thread (s) so that we will know the back story and maybe could give better replies.

I, too, am sorry your having to deal with this. I don't know your history, age extra but many times, over 80% of the time, areas of suspicion are from benign causes. Especially, with younger woman.

Waiting for any procedure is excruciating, but unfortunately there is no way around it. Keep yourself busy, read through threads of like people for support as well as supporting others and your tests and results will come a little quicker. Always, find a silver lining.

Maybe have this thread for all your other, thoughts, concerns, updates etc for your personal history. Maybe add that history to this thread. Then people can get to "know you".

Good luck and hoping for benign outcomes

Thank you both. I'm so lost in this whole process if a possible BC diagnosis. To clarify, everything should stay on my first post to this community? Even if I end up with a BC diagnosis, I still ask questions on my original thread in the "worried" category? Thanks for your help. Trying to abide by the norms

Stay on this thread until you receive your testing results.

If you should be diagnosed you would then find the appropriate threads for whatever you were diagnosed with.
