Sharp shooting pains in area 6 years later
Has anyone had sharp shooting pains in the area that feel like a Knife stabbing you for no reason at all?

Yes, I did. It was happening now and then, but I chalked it up to my bra compressing the side of my breast too much.
One evening when I was getting ready for bed, I felt the pain again, and I ran my hand along the side of my breast. That's when I found a lump, and what turned out to be a recurrence of my bc from 8 years before. The reason for the pain was because the tumor was compressing some nerves that had grown back after my mastectomy. Since there was really no breast tissue left for it to get buried in, it was touching nerves.
This is not to scare you, of course. I happened to find a lump, but it could just as easily be pain from nerves that are regenerating and displaced. That's not really unusual. If it bothers you and continues, you may want to get it checked out.

Absolutely! I have been plagued with them for quite a while, a real nuisance. Surgeon checks that breast and I insisted that I have both breasts mammogrammed one year. They insisted that it was not necessary. After reading emily2008 reply, I may insist again this year.

Hi I get the same thing my doctor said its the nerve ending healing. It seems to me after 5 years I should be healed already seems like a strange answer to me and it sure doesn't feel like healing it hurts.

me too 5 years later feels like nerve endings and pain moves around.

Hi In the evening at rest it get tight some shooting like pain in the area where my breat was. I am told it's scare tissue. It happen also when I where my bra to long.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I had a lumpectomy 5 years ago and the pain is so bad I can't even touch it. My MO insists it's the scar tissue and nothing can be done. I'm going to talk to my surgeon this year.
What do you do to help the pain?
-
Yep I have it too. My surgeon said it's nerve pain from the radiation. It can be quite painful sometimes, like a sharp, stabbing pain

I had a double mastectomy January 2017. I'm so glad to read these replies. Today and yesterday for the first time ever I am having sharp knife stabbing pain in between my port site and left breast area. I was doing some extensive stretching in the shower yesterday morning, now the pain will not stop. Kinda scary.

Yes, I am 6.5 years post mastectomy and still get stabbing pains and phantom breast itch.
Had it just last night. I get it at least several times a month, but used to get it daily for probably 5 years!
CRAZY!
