Painful cord in breast after lumpectomy

I had a lumpectomy on 2/3 with no issues during surgery (except they couldn't find the clip! )

I have been recovering well and the incision site is doing great but I have a very tender, painful cord-like area in my breast that extends about 2-3" and goes to my ribs. I've been experiencing lots of pain at the base of my breast and ribs because of this cord thing. It also really hurts that lower part of my breast to raise my arm.

I have no idea what this cord is. I'm calling the surgeon this week but wondered if this has happened to anyone else.

Thanks!

It sounds like Mondor's syndrome. I had it too. It's painful, but it's harmless and it goes away on it's own. Ask your surgeon if this might be what it is.

Cheech76, they lost my clip too. My BS was really stressed about it but I had a nice hematoma from the biopsy to show exactly where the cancer was. Hoping your pain goes away. My sentinal node biopsy hurt for about 4 weeks. Feels great 6 weeks out now.

Cheech76 - I got cording from a sentinel node biopsy. I also have it on both sides where my drains were from my BMX.

If it doesn't go away on its own you can work with a PT.

I recently started working with a PT. I didn't even realize the pain from my drain sights was from cording.
