I had my bilateral MX with TE on February 1st. I'm 29yo, healthy 135lbs, 2 babies 2yo & 8mo. I had an 8cm DCIS tumor on the left wth 1mm microinvasion. ER-PR- HER2+3. 1-2mm margins. I saw the RO last Thursday and they need to present my slides to a board of doctors to make a decision on radiation and I see the MO tomorrow, BS is now saying maybe chemo?! I thought that the MX was supposed to take care of everything. Anyone else have similar experience and what treatment were you offered.

With a mastectomy, radiation is not usually a part of treatment.

Since you are HER2+, Herceptin is an important advancement in treatment. It has been a game changer in mortality for HER2+ patients, so it's well worth considering. It is usually started in conjunction with Taxol or Taxotere because it works better somehow - and then on it's own for a total of 17 infusions. Also you are ER/PR negative as I was, so you don't have the option of those continuing 5 or 10 year pills. The docs did not test for HER2 when I had my BMX for DCIS, so it took a recurrence to identify the overexpression & move toward treating that.
