Kadcyla failed now what !

Ok ladies, those who WERE on kadcyla and it failed what were your next options and how long did it work? I already had taxotere herceptin perjeta and put into NED we tired dropping tax and progressed 3 months now herceptin perjeta zoladex and anastrozole went on kadcyla and zoladexfor 6 months and it failed I'm triple positive and brca 2 positive wondering if I should give up there's no slowing this monster down in 2010 stage 2 I had red devil and taxol. Please share any miracle stories desperately needing hope!

I don't have the same subtype of cancer as you do, (double positive, that's gotta be rare!) but here are some thoughts:

First, for BRCA, I assume you mean you have the BRCA mutation? If so, you should respond well to PARP inhibitors, like Olaparib- these work great in BRCA-mutant cells, and can be given in combination with other drugs too.

You have ER-positive cancer, but so far you have not had Ibrance, has your MO discussed trying Faslodex+Ibrance, or Letrozole +Ibrance?

Lots of other treatments around, Aromasin/Afinitor, Xeloda, etc

If things get really bad, try the NCI immunotherapy trial, some patients apparently have seen amazing results. Here is the link and a phone number to call them to ask questions (you have to go to Bethesda for treatment):

Where are your mets, and how extensive or rapidly moving? that makes a difference for treatment

I'm not ER+, but I just finished my fifth dose of Kadcyla. Asked my MO what would be the third line drug and she said Lapatinab.

However in more complicated hormone positive cancers, they are investigating testing your cancer to see if it is Androgen positive and introducing new drugs that target that receptor. Interesting, there's a new drug that has been approved for Prostrate cancer that they are doing clinical trials on Androgen Positive breast cancer. SO there are many pathways to try, including immunotherapy

hi Dezymarie! We need a thread for us Her2+ girls. Your scan is very much like mine. My cancer spread during treatment. I know how you feel. Can they biopsy the areas? You are nowhere near being done. As the other women pointed out there are many treatments to try. Don't get discouraged!

If you are on Zoladex, you are premenopausal and the Zoladex is meant to suppress ovarian function An option for consideration might be getting your ovaries removed (oophorectomy), which would put you into menopause. With menopausal status you would be eligible to receive Aromatase Inhibitor hormonal therapies such as Letrozole, possibly in combination with IBRANCE, or Faslodex, either alone or with IBRANCE.

I did herceptin/tykerb after I failed on Kadcyla (which was a clinical trial) and had awesome results for over 3 years.

Ask you doc about this combo. It can be hard at times (bad diarrhea), so you have to really watch what you eat.

go luck, its a marathon...believe me I have been running for almost 9 years....

I spoke to my onc about removing my ovaries but she does not think it will be a good idea right now

Love your photo. I am not 3+, yet have Zoladex shots. As I am not very friends with AIs, we are not rushing to remove my ovaries. I seem to be doing better on chemos.

Well, I cannot reply your question directly, yet I can say I've been on the boards quite some time and witnessed some rockstar game changer ladies.

They were/are following the treatment protocols, yes, and they also had/have (some are still among us) the positive attitude to enjoy each sec. Hi Fitz btw!

Read these ladies.. they are the first two I can say.

I started off with Xeloda/Taxotere combo which gave me heart attack (have heart condition from first childhood cancer) on day 5, nearly was gone. Yet, after failing on tamoxifen, I insisted on continuing on Xeloda with heart pills, well 5 years on Xeloda! ))

I am sure there are still many good therapies for you, just hang on, enjoy the spring weather and have good diet.

I was dx'ed at 36 MBC at the start, had the red devil back when 15 (yuck) and Taxotere is no fun.

My oncology psychiatrist sorted out a mood/anxiety meds plan such that, I am not numb all day, yet can feel normal and can sleep early. She says people on taxenes especially need these meds as they the chemo interferes badly with the neurosystem leading to supressed anxiety even if you feel normal, loosing quality of sleep.

There are many young MBC gals here, in fact we have a in their 30s thread somewhere..

BUMP please.... I started Kadcyla 2 weeks ago, got a 102 fever, liver enzymes bad. Going in for more labs but looks like after one treatment, I "failed". Been fighting cancer since I was 29 (am 61). I am tired but not ready to give up yet. Any other possibilities after Kadcyla ? anyone???
