ATM Gene Defect

Is there anyone out there with an ATM gene defect?

I have a strong family history of breast cancer for women and prostate cancer for men. In many cases the cancer was undetected until it had metastasized through out the body.

I have just experienced a double mastectomy; during which time they found 10 lymph nodes and 2 additional tumors in breast that were never detected on MRI.

My experience is turning into some kind of crazy move with a Pseudomonas infection and expander removal and now a large seroma requiring attention.

Will be receiving Faslodex injections after intolerance to the aromatase inhibitors (severe asthmatic reactions).

My CT scans show some "freckles" in lungs and other nodes (small spots that are indeterminate).

Anyone have experience with this genetic defect>

Hi sftlm - I do not have an ATM mutation but see you already found another thread here called positive genetic results and shared more of your family history.

Two other resources to consider: the PROMPT study (in topic list above) and the FORCE organization website for which you can do a search. You are certainly not alone. Knowledge is power
