Hey there:

13 years ago I have BC in my right breast and had mastectomy, axillary dissection, chemo, radiation, hormone therapy. I did not have any reconstruction at this time.

Now, I have been diagnosed with a second BC on my left side - two tumors, node negative. I will have a UMX on the left with TE and and fat grafting for reconstruction on the right. PS told me that TE on the right is not a good idea because I had radiation on that side. So she suggested the fat grafting.

Anyways, what can I expect in terms of recovery from this surgery in terms of pain, movement, fatigue etc.

And second, has anyone had fat grafting done and what did it turn out like? Will it be hugely different in proportion or evenness from the TE on the left side?

I must say, from the images I have seen of reconstruction at the PS office, it is not pretty when you are naked. I was assured I would look normal, perkier and larger than I am now in clothing and bathing suits. I am wondering if its worth it and if you guys could weigh in on this.
