Hello, i'm 37, and am currently awaiting my appointment for mammogram and ultrasound with biopsy. About a year and a half ago (Nov 2015, when i was 36) I had a large fibroadenoma that was about 2cm in size. It was found by me, confirmed by my OB/GYN and then diagnosed via Mamograma and utrasound with a biopsy. This time, i have 3!!! lumps, one below my nipple, about 1 cm, one in my upper breast area almost in the armpit (feels like a small grape), and a larger flatter one at the top of my breast. I'm so scared. I keep reading articles that say Fibroadenomas sometimes show up in multiples, so that makes me hopeful that it is not cancer, but still i'm so scared. I have a 7yr old and a 4 year old. I also have a swollen lymph node in my neck on that same side. It was viewed via ultrasound in August as it was concerning, but my dr said to jsut wait and see (rechecking at 6-8 months) because i'd also just suffered from a thyroiditis issue. I'm looking for reassurance and support.

Hi there, your story sounds just like mine! I too had a large (almost 3 cm) FA that was surgically removed in the fall of 2015. It was known at the time that there were 2 smaller ones which were left in place and would be monitored every 6 months via ultrasound. At my routine US in January this year, it appeared as though the 2 fibroadenomas were "bi-lobed" and the one had some atypical features with some shadowing. I just had a biopsy for this one last Monday and get the results tomorrow. I am quite confident it is just a fibroadenoma as there are multiples so not really concerned about the results. I am actually contemplating having them all surgically removed so that I can stop worrying about them and going for the US every 6 months.

If there is any change when you go in 6 months, then perhaps request a biopsy.
