uplift and reduction
I am having uplift and reduction of good breast (actually having surgery on my birthday) this week. Looking for info on how long recovery will take and any tips on what is best to wear? I am thinking a sports bra/front fastening?
Oh also have the cold from hell. but understand this is not a problem in going ahead unless there is a temperature = there isn't.
Thanks

hi winter socks! I had bilateral lumpectomies with reduction and lift in Jan. I spent 1 night in hospital bc it was an afternoon surgery. By the next day when I went home I felt pretty good and would just take Tylenol for pain and the heavier stuff at night. I was back working my desk job at home 3 days later. I would say the first week of sleep was hard bc I sleep on my side normally but postop I slept on back with lots of pillows propped up on either side. And for maybe 2 weeks it felt like there was an underwire bra inside my breast. But now 6 weeks out I feel totally normally. I started exercising 2 weeks out with Pilates. And tried to walk everyday. I think you will find recovery is a breeze compared to mastectomy!! I asked for a scopolamine patch with anesthesia to prevent nausea. I went to hospital just in a cami, no bra. And they had me in a front closing bra post op and I wore that for 2 weeks.
Good luck! I hope it's easy for you. I like be my new smaller perky boobs!

I had a lift and reduction instead of a simple lumpectomy. There was very little pain. I was on regular Tylenol a couple of days out. The only thing that really hurt was my sentinel node biopsy incision. I am really happy with how mine turned out. Went from a DD/DDD to a C I think. I am still wearing the white zip up sports bras 5 weeks out. Figured I'd wait and get new bras after radiation. They did give me 2 surgical bras that I wore for a couple of weeks. Good luck on your upcoming surgery.

Hi wintersocks:
I hope you're doing well. I just e-mailed my PS today to have a breast reduction/lift on my "good boob" too. I had a right breast mastectomy in 2014.
Annoyingboob and Cowboy-up are such positive success stories.
Take good care of yourself.

Hi Pabbie,
When are you scheduled to get it done? how are you feeling about it?
I had it done yesterday. Wow! it's sore especially where the fat was taken. I am sure that that will ease as it 's only day 2. For the ladies who have had it done: I am looking at the uplift and it still seems somewhat bigger that the recon. I am assuming that is the swelling and it will go down? I had the tattoo done on the recon too, but can't see it til the dressing comes off tomorrow. He said the areola on me is naturallly very light so he might have to tattoo the good nipple to make it match.

Hi: I just e-mailed my PS yesterday but I'm hoping to get the breast reduction/lift in May because my husband is off work and can help me recover.
I'm keeping my *right breast flat. I am not a good candidate for reconstruction because of colo-rectal cancer in 1999, where I was radiated in areas the PS could pull from., and I don't want to pull from my back muscle.
*sweat and rashes are making my life miserable, PS suggested Breast reduction from a D to a B.
Take good care of yourself as you heal.

Yes winter socks. You still have swelling. I would say it was about 3 weeks until my breasts started softening. Even at 5 weeks, there is a little swelling. PS said 3 months is when it should look like we want it to. I still have to do radiation on the one breast so it will be longer on that one. Pain won't last long. I was able to sleep on my stomach about a month out without any discomfort

cowboy up,
Thanks I am in much less pain today (day 3). i have to go back for a wound check in 2 weeks and to see the surgeon again in 6 weeks. I sure hope it begins to look like the recon side, as this is an uplift and reduction only on my 'good' breast, otherwise I will feel a bit upset as there is still a clear difference in size.
I hope you are getting on ok and radiation for me went ok as I really hope it will for you too.
