Period during chemo, estrogen level still high?

I am doing neoadjuvant chemo. So far I have finished 12 rounds of weekly Taxol and 1# DD A/C. I had my last period at Taxol #2 then it stopped for 3 months as the result of my first lupron shot. But the recent three days I start having some mild abdominal pain and I know period might be coming back soon.

Is there a relationship between period and estrogen level? Is it not a good sign that I still have period during chemo (lupron did stop it for 3 months, but seems like chemo doesn't)?

Thanks!

Hmm, I began chemo in July 2014 and had my period through September. Then, nothing. Of course, I wasn't on Lupron then. I'm currently on Zoladex and haven't gotten my period on that.

I am worrying that even chemo can't stop my ovaries and lower down estrogen level, how can those hormonal pills?

Some women's period stop with chemo, and some don't. Some women have them stop during chemo after which they start right up again. (That was me). It's totally common to get your period during chemo.

Lupron (or Zoladex) will shut down your ovaries (and stop your periods) if you continue with it. I'd guess once you are done with chemo and start tamoxifen or an AI your onc will also start you on one of the ovarian ablators.
