Diep flap reconstruction info in Ontario

It's been 2 years after having bilateral mastectomy for breast cancer and looking for any information from anyone who has had Diep flap reconstruction. Of course mine would be delayed. I am looking for some doctors who perform this in the Toronto - Niagara area. Can anyone help ? And give me some sort of idea what I would be in for. I am on the fence right now because of my age (62).

Dishmama - I'm in Toronto and had diep surgery at Toronto General/Princess Margaret. Sunnybrook also does the surgery. I'm not sure who does the surgery outside of the GTA.

There is a 2016 Diep thread and ones for prior years. Take a read through those as they will give you a good idea as to what to expect.

I'm three years out from from the diep surgery and have no regrets. From what I have read on this board, most ar happy with their results.

Thanks Ridley, will do just that. Just need a bit of ladies experiences with Diep. Can I ask who was your Dr who did the surgery and how long you were in the hospital. Take care and thanks for the reply

My surgeon was Dr. Hofer. He is fantastic. I had surgery on a Thursday and came home on Monday.

Dishmama, I had mine done by Dr. Lipa at Sunnybrook. She is extremely experienced and I am more than pleased with results. She is my favourite Dr. going through all this, kind, patient and unpretentious. I always felt I was in the best of hands and had no nervousness. You can check her reviews at ratemds.com . Every time I see her, I thank her for all she has done for me. I can send you pics if you'd like.
