saw my ps and asked about a nipple sparing mastectomy. He told me that the only way I would be able to keep my nipple would be to have a breast lift first. Then 4 weeks later go back and have a mastectomy direct to implant. Has anyone ever done this? Trying to make a decision and just don't know which wayto go.

    Dear Dkfedder:

Maybe that is just the type of nipple sparing mastectomy that your PS know how to do.

I had huge, ptotic breasts, my nipples were hanging lower than the inframammary fold. BS and PS both said I was a candidate for nipple-sparing BMX. Both surgeons are very experienced in nipple-sparing techniques. PS told ("warned") me that I would be smaller than pre-BMX. I said thank you very much.

I had nipple-sparing prophylactic BMX with TEs. A large crescent of skin above the nipples was removed from each breast. The nipples and remainder of breast skin were brought up. So that would have been equivalent to the "breast lift" that your PS is suggesting.

My TEs were exchanged with Natrelle 410 Style FX Anatomically shaped implants.

    Good luck with your surgery.

..I had a unilateral mastectomy in Jan. 2014. (right side)

For 3 years, I've been wearing a fitted prosthetic and mastectomy bras.

But I've having a problem with sweat and rashes on my "good breast" in warmer environments, and it's gotten worse with age.

I met with a plastic surgeon in Dec. and she suggested a breast reduction/lift on my "good Boob." So the breast won't droop and hang as much.

Not a candidate for breast reconstruction.

Hi everyone I had UMX also in 11/16 and had rads 12/26-01/17. I had TE in at time of surgery. Now I decided not to do recon so I'm going to have my expander out, and do lift on my good side right breast. I have not talked to my insurance but does anyone knows if the breast lift is covered without the other reconstruction? Thanks for your inputs.
