Hi guys,

New to this forum here, and just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has shared their experience on all these forums. They have been super helpful to my family and I when we just wanted to learn more about HER2+ breast cancer! My mother who was diagnosed with breast cancer (Er-, HER2+) in October 2016, and just finished up her 6 rounds of THCP. We're currently awaiting MRI/Surgery/Etc, but she has been told that she will be continuing with Herceptin for a year.

During THCP, she was recommended Glutamine powder and Vitamin B6 (to prevent neuropathy), and told to avoid high antioxidants foods (pomegranate, grapefruit, marmalade, green tea, etc). We've also have stayed away from soy food products. Have any of you been through the same chemo regimen who can shed some light on diet changes/recommendations once you're only on Herceptin? Did you continue to take glutamin powder/vitmain b6 and avoid pomegranate/grapefruits?

I've asked her oncologist, but their diet recommendations are pretty generic. Unfortunately our clinic doesn't offer dietitian help either. It would be wonderful if you ladies could share your insight!

Thanks so much in advance.

jubilee - can you post your mother diagnosis and treatment in My Profile?

I'm not ER/PR positive so I don't have to worry about soy. I cut out the Glutamine after active chemo, but am still taking B-6 & B-12 3 years later. Unfortunately, neither that nor icing my feet & fingers kept me from getting neuropathy. I also was told no anti-oxidents during chemo because they would encourage the cells to grow that the chemo was trying to kill. After my Herceptin, I started back with Vit C. Also re-introduced Vit E and Omega 3, which I stopped before surgery because they are blood thinners.
