Radiation Pneumonitis

Options

I recently completed radiation therapy back in November 2016 and recently have been dealing with a series of extreme coughing, tightening in the chest area and loss of breath (even after walking short distances). My oncologist recently told me that I may have radiation pneumonitis and steriods will help to relieve the discomfort. Has any one else gone through this treatment and if so, how long should I anticipate taking yet again another medication?

MCRapps70 - So sorry your experiencing this -yes I too had this diagnosis shortly after RADS finished which initially they said was "anxiety" - WRONG as it persisted , in fact now 3 years later it has expanded to most of the right lung which my pulmonologist sez is unusual . He prescribed inhaler w/a steriod which seems to help some -good thing is the node under my right collarbone is totally gone .

Hang in there but don't let them brush it off as nothing -hugs.
