I was wondering if anyone here was prescribed either Ibrance (with Letrozole) or Afinitor as preventative treatment? I would like to try them but I understand they aren't standard therapy as yet.

Hi, I have been looking for the same answer. Both have trials for stage 3 - are you eligible? You should be by your stats? I'm not, to my disappointment.

The only lady I've found on the boards being prescribed ibrance for prevention outside a trial is in Singapore or Hong Kong as I recall.

As I say - you should get into PALLAS or PENELOPEB?

I don't live in US so can't do trials. I might be able to convince my oncologist to prescribe me Xeloda though. I couldn't possibly afford the Ibrance or Affinitor.

I have stage IV BC matastic . I had a lumpectomy in 2011 and targeted RAD. Just diagnosed with Stage. My OCO has prescribed Ibrance and arimidex. No surgery, no Chemo, no RAD.?? He is confident that th combination of drugs will shrink cancer in all areas, or of course it won't. I know that sounds bizarre right. But I read all about Ibrance and combo drugs. The side effects are minimal compared to Chemo,Rad, which of course

I have read that this will be the first choice therapy for the type of cancer I have. post menopausal er receptive matastic BC. I am hopeful but scared I have been reading a lot about women who are taking one or the other but not in combination, which is most effective.

The trials mentioned( PALLAS/Penelope B are RCT - there is a 50% chance you will get placebo.

They are for early stage disease with the hypothesis tested being - delay or prevention of recurrence.

I believe they have a time interval for enrolling - PALLAS - adjunct chemo it is sitting 12 months of initial surgery.

Possibly the "easiest" thing to do if your oncologist approves of the plan is to contact Pfizer directly and ask whether they would subsidise you or whether they have trials going where you might be eligible. With Kisqali on its trail they just might help a bit. At the most the risk it's easy for a letter and dealing with a no.....

    All the best 😊
