So I saw my PS today. He comes highly recommended by both of my surgeons and a friend who has used him. Overall I think I like him but I tend to clam up during office visits and not ask the right questions or not know what to ask. I have researched a little and tossed around going flat, having an implant, and different flap surgeries before going to see him. I was pretty sure the only kind of flap I would be OK with was DIEP. Wasn't sure if I was even a candidate. Turns out because of my weight while I am a candidate for DIEP it would be riskier. PS suggested direct to implant for me. I asked if this was the best option for me if I wanted to try and loose some weight and maybe reconsider a DIEP down the road if I end up not liking the implant. He says definitely. If I choose to go flat I would lose a lot of skin that he could use if I went direct to implant. He could then use that same skin if down the road I decided to do a DIEP. Who knows maybe I'll be happy with the implant. The problem is I'm worried about having something foreign in my body. I have not researched this option fully but I feel like the infection risk would be high? I would appreciate any and all opinions. I am a D cup now but would like to be a hair smaller. I used to be a C cup before gaining this dang weight. He said a full C is what he's hopeful for. We didn't discuss altering the other breast too much but should I consider that? Will I have a 20 year old boob on one side and a 45 year old one on the other side? LOL! What is typically done to the other side? Some kind of lift? I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed but happy I found a place to get some answers from others with similar experiences.
