Is IBC possible after having had radiation therapy?

Long story but recently I have developed a rash under my arm near the armpit on my left side. It started very small, barely visible. It has now doubled in size. My primary care thought it was a yeast infection and prescribed a cream. After several days of using cream I was not seeing any change. 4 days later I developed a rash on my left breast which looked more like hives. Both places do itch and are red and somewhat warm to the touch. In October of 2016 I finished up radiation for infiltrating duct carcinoma in the left breast. Is it possible to get IBC in that same breast after just having completed radiation? A side note: my surgery was a lumpectomy in the left breast and did not need chemo therapy.

I had a 6 month check up with my surgeons office today and they showed some concern. I am scheduled to see a dermatologist tomorrow. I didn't even know that IBC existed until they mentioned it to me at my follow up today.

It's good that you will be seeing a Dermatologist tomorrow. of course 'anything' is possible and only a DR(s) who actually see you and have access to appropriate reports can tell you what is going on. On one here can - we can only give our experiences and what we have learned on our journey down the IBC road. Remember that only between 1 & 4 out of 100 with all types of BC will be IBC so it's 'rare'. Skin issues (no matter where on the largest organ of the body) on the other hand are quite common and can be very hard to treat and take a while to totally resolve.

Find out what is going but do not allow Dr 'Quack' Google to DX you.
