Travel For Surgery/Need Advice

Newly diagnosed and need advice. ;) Have spoken to surgical/reconstruction team locally and at MD Anderson. Have chosen MDA. My concern is doing surgery/recon and flying home. I have not completely chosen between unil- or bilateral (family history and waiting on genetics) but in any case -- has anyone else had to fly home (short flight: 2.5 hours)? WHEN did you go home? I would have husband/family support during travel. MDA does this so often -- they're what I consider very liberal about when you can fly, etc.

THANKS!

I am facing the same choice--do my surgery locally or fly to CA (2 hours) I've consulted with a few doctors and the time has ranged between staying in their location from one week all the way up to a month so it's hard to know what's really the safest thing to do! I am doing BMX and currently leaning on flying to CA to do it I will plan to stay at least two weeks just to be safe even though this particular doctor told me I could fly home after one..,,
