Good morning,

I was just diagnosed with Invasive Ductal stage 2 Grade 2, Er+,Pr+,Her2+. I am told I will need a Masectomy , Chemo, Hormone Therapy, and radiation. What order have others had things done? Looking for others who have gone through what I will, scared! Nervous! And just plain freaked out.

Shelabela, Sorry you found yourself here. The order may differ depending on the size of the tumor, but most TX's are: surgery, followed by chemo, radiation and HT. If the tumor is of a size that they feel should be smaller in order to have a successful outcome of surgery, they may opt to do chemo first in hopes of shrinking the tumor. When you go to your initial up-coming appts, you might want to take a trusted friend or relative, as sometimes it can be very over-whelming trying to grasp what the Dr is saying. I would also suggest getting copies of your medical reports as you go. You will most likely have a few other tests before treatment. Best wishes with your treatments and beyond! You will find a lot of help and support on this forum. ((HUGS))

I've been just diagnosed too. I'm confused by the report, but I go to the cancer doctor tomorrow.

Julrich and shelabela, welcome to Breastcancer.org. We're so very sorry for what brings you here, but we're glad you've found our community.

Besides talking to others here in the boards, you may also want to take a look at the Breast Cancer 101 section from our main site, designed for those recently diagnosed to help understand test results, the individual characteristics of the cancer, treatments that are recommended for you, getting a second opinion, and more.

Please keep us posted on how you're doing and further appointments!

    Best wishes,

    The Mods

For some - surgery is first followed by chemo, then rads and then Hormonal Therapy. But it is becoming more common in today's world for neoadjuvant (pre surgery) chemo, surgery, some imes also adjuvant chemo, then rads and HT.

Your Oncology Team (chemo D, rads Dr, surgeon) will explain your TX plan after taking your DX to the he Tumor Board at your Facility.

shelabela - the order of treatment for triple positives depends on the tumor size and location, and nodal status. Do you have any of this information yet? Also, wanted to direct you to the triple positive thread, I have linked it for you below. Lots of experienced people who are very helpful and informed.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! It has made me feel not so alone! To hear that so many have the same fears that I do makes me feel much stronger. I go to the Dr tomorrow and find out my treatment plan. I think this part to me seems more scary then the other part. Makes it seem so much more real now, before it was a medical problem, Now it is hear and now! If that makes sense.

I have a list of questions written to take with me tomorrow so I can ask everything I want. My husband is also going with me so I have support. I hope he is ready.

Again thank you all so much! I will post more tomorrow after I find out what the plan is!

    Shelabela
