Hi

In 2008 I had a double prophylactic mastectomy. Six days later I developed complications. After a month in hospital including 5 operations and a total of 11 operations (plus two other general anaesthetics for investigations) over a two and a half year period, my surgeon was finally happy.

Search on my name for more details.

Well, patience, Pilates, and exercise have really paid off. It'sbeen a tough road at times. Really tough. But, somehow, amazingly, I've qualified for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships to be held in Chattanooga Tennessee in September.

You guessed it, Bronwen is an alias. For I've been too scared to admit the truth of the double mastectomy.

I'm now trying to be more authentic. It scares me. I think I could help others by sharing this story. The good news after all the pain. But going public also scares me. For example, how would people at my running and triathlon clubs react? Would they stare? Gosh I can't believe I'm crying again. I happened to move countries so people here don't know my story.
