I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and met with my doctors to discuss treatment options. I am trying to decide between a lumpectomy/radiation or mastectomy. I'm only 41, I still want to have breasts...ha so anyone here's had a lumpectomy and had a good cosmetic result?

Depends on where and how large the tumor is. I was lucky....my tumor was at 6 o'clock on my breast and after the lumpectomy it was unnoticeable with a bra on. I even went to Victoria Secret after my lumpectomy to buy "the girls" new bras!

tsp4406- I had a lumpectomy in August. I am a D cup and my tumor was 2x3 cm. My surgeon was amazing and said she had to move some things around to fill in the hole. My scars are barely visible (4 inches for lump and 2 inch for nodes). While I have no current indentation, I was told it may take two years for the full impact of surgery and radiation to be seen. Your surgeon should be able to tell you what you can likely expect based on your individual situation. Good luck with your decision! A good cosmetic outcome is definitely possible!
