Anyone in a drumming circle? I'm wondering if gentle drumming would be OK for LE.

What is the 'drumming circle' you are referring to? The drumming associated with Native American culture (Pow-Wows, Dancing, ceremonies, etc.)? The local Nations I know of, the men do the drumming - not women.

Drumming circles have become popular and very therapeutic for all sexes and it looks so relaxing. I would be very cautious doing this. Maybe try it for a few minutes then rest le limb then try again, repeat. I think your arms will be in a down position which is not good IF your in a le flare (I think you said you were in other post) doing something repetitive banging your hand against drum.

I'd hate to stomp out any kind of fun and your body is different than mine so you will know what is best. Some people can be physically vigorous others have to be more gentle with there activities. Let us know how it goes if you do it as we need educating to. Be very very gentle.

Worked up a sweat in gym yesterday and today doggy is looking at me for walkies. Trying to figure out how to dodge raindrops. Maybe I'll don rain gear and bite the bullet!

Hugz, yes! Think how much cozier it will be once you get back in! A hot cup of mint tea, a well-earned feet-up rest--aaaah!

    Go for it!

Drumming circles are great for fellowship and relaxation. As for exercise when you have LE, my cancer exercise training suggested that you start with only a few minutes. If you do any type of exercise, if your limb feels hot, heavy, or swollen the following day, you've done too much and you need to back off that exercise a little bit. Just be mindful of how much you are ready for right now.

Respectfully, if you are indigenous, you know quite well that there are many kinds of such circles, and the protocols for indigenous doingsvary by nation, community, altar. Just wanted to make this clear to others. I’ve seen awful vids of all-white drum-circles with people bouncing around crazily, butchering sacred traditional prayer songs. None of us who live by the drum and these songs support that. I find it problematic that people not connected to a traditional community with bonafide teachings and elders are often charged money, deprived of healthy disciplines of learning and otherwise mislead. Be sensitive and observant if approaching such a circle purporting to be indigenous.

Totally different note: when I got my surgery, I was definitely worried if my drumming and firetending would be taken from me by the debilities of cancer treatmet. This lymphedema is giving me a run for my money, but I willl not allow my voice to be taken!
