I found out a few days ago that I have BC. I am meeting with the oncologist and radiologist Wednesday to discuss treatment options. As far as I know right now, I have a rare but good (if there is such a thing) cancer. Surgery within 4-6 week. I'm doing well mentally, but what should I except on Wednesday? When will I find out what stage it is

Hi friend... Unfortunately I say welcome to the club. I know you're at the very beginning of all of this and have loads of questions. I'm 6 months in now. Chemo and surgery has already been done. Mentally I'm still trying to adjust to this new club I find myself in. On Wednesday when you find out your treatments I imagine they will tell you your stage and that 's how they'll gage what treatments you will need. Every treatment is personalized to your type of cancer. Wishing you much success on your new life journey.

    Kinds regards

Sorry to hear you’ve joined. Wednesday they should give you an overview of what they know so far, and what your treatment plan will be. They can’t be sure of the stage until after surgery is done as imaging is not always completely accurate in regards to size and lymph node status (the two things that together determine stage). They should be able to give you their best guess though.

Sorry to find you here with us. You will find these ladies on the boards kind and very knowledgeable. Nothing really is known for sure until you have surgery. They can say one thing now, then plans change and you have to regroup your thoughts. Just know that there is a lot of waiting between everything that happens. Be sure to join the surgery board for your month of surgery. It helps to go thru this with others going it thru it at the same time.

    Good luck on your journey

tsp, as others have said, we are sorry you found yourself here! I would suggest taking a trusted friend or relative with you to your first Dr's appts. It may be over-whelming and they can help you take notes, record, etc. You might also want to get all of your medical records in case you have questions for them. Best wishes moving forward. There is always someone here to help.
