Lobular Hyperplasia Questions

after a week of waiting I found out the large lump I was feeling was a very confusing diagnosis. I was first told that it was benign and that I would need to come back in 6 months to see if there were any changes and that was all. I called back for a better understanding, thinking I had a fibroadenoma, since ive had one several years ago. I was told I had pregnancy related hyperplasia or also known as Lobular hyperplasia. I wasn't given much more information, which bothers me. Has anyone else been diagnosed with this and if so, what exactly are they going to be looking for in 6 months? If there are changes in the cell growth could it be cancer or can this turn into cancer? I wasn't told if this was atypical or not but just that they want to monitor it...what could it be? she said I could go get my pathology report but I think that'll leave me more confused than ever.

Knicole, without knowing what your pathology report specifically says I think you should discuss this more with your doctor until you feel you understand better. I don't know anything about pregnancy related changes, but if it is not "atypical hyperplasia" I think it is a different situation than what is usually discussed here.

You should ALWAYS get & keep copies of any pathology reports for future reference. Take it to an appointment with the doctor and make them read it with you and explain until you feel like you completely understand it and all you questions have been answered

I think Melissa is right on. It's your body and you should understand everything going on inside of it. Keep us posted and feel free to ask more questions.
