I am 48 And was just diagnosed in December with stage 2 a invasive breast cancer. Was wondering if there any other gals out there in the same age range with a similar diagnosis in Seattle? Perhaps we could form a mini Seattle support Group for the newly diagnosed;)

I am a bit older (63) and was just diagnosed on December 19th with ILC. An MRI showed a 1.2 cm. mass with a smaller 6 mm. satellite lesion 8 mm. from the biopsied larger mass. I don't know the stage yet. I live in Anacortes and will be having my surgery in Bellevue. I was pretty bummed to find out there was another mass that I didn't know about. I guess I won't know the pathology on that part until after my lumpectomy. I am meeting with a radiation oncologist on Tuesday and a medical oncologist on Thursday, then with a plastic surgeon to discuss reconstruction options. The breast surgeon thinks a lumpectomy will do the job but I get kind of nervous when reading about the "sneaky" nature of ILC.

so sorry to hear about your diagnosis but I definitely know how you feel! I'm actually up in orcas right now relaxing for a weekend kind of the calm before the storm. I found the dreaded lump while on vacation in Mexico in November came back and had a biopsy at which point they found two more :( while they talked lumpectomy to me it's just not for me I don't want to worry about clear margins and radiation so I'm just going for the full mastectomy probably on both breasts ( I understand removing both does not affect my prognosis but the right breast looked suspicious also so I prefer to just get rid of them both and reconstruct )

I have not found a surgical team that I love in the Seattle area so I'm curious to know who you'll be going to for both the breast surgeon and the plastic surgeon in Bellevue? Sending you good thoughts.

    Hi again 9lives70,

My breast surgeon is Karen Hendershot at Swedish in Seattle. She was the perfect match for me and I've been very happy with all my treatments. Not as wild about my PS, Wandra Miles but she has good reviews. My MO is Dr Rinn but since I haven't needed much in the way of adjuvant treatment I haven't seen as much of her. I've really liked dealing with Swedish because all the bills have come from one place, not everyone billing me separately.

Best of luck navigating this challenging course. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions or concerns.

    Luck

I was stage 0 DCIS (high grade comedo necrosis, so my surgeon didn't want to "wait" and it was my first mammogram at age 41 that found it.

I loved my team of Dr. Christine Lee at Swedish Issaquah for my breast surgeon and Dr. Kimberly Lu for my PS. I have another friend who used both of them (she was Stage 1, diagnosed just 6 weeks before me) also. I am done with all my surgeries, but was diagnosed last June
