Double chin from chemo

I've only done 4 treatments and getting ready to start my 12 weekly treatments next week for triple negative breast cancer. Just noticed my double chin is worse than before diagnosis. Everything I found online was people who had radiation and/or some type of head neck or throat cancer. Anyone else have this experience? I've always been self conscious of my double chin and receding jawline and now it's worse. Going through enough with all the treatment. Just want to cry!

I'm sorry that a worsening double chin is causing you distress. I haven't heard of that SE before but there seems to be no end to the variety of side effects from our cancer treatments.

Do you think it could be caused by general swelling? Be sure to drink lots of fluids. Also have your MO check the lymph nodes in your neck to be sure they aren't the cause of swelling.

You are not seeing things. The puffy face and stomach can indeed be a side effect of chemo and especially the steroids used to combat nausea. I indeed had a double chin at the end of chemo and have worked hard at the gym to sweat it and my belly fat off to only partial results.

It has only been five months since my last treatment and I fully expect to get back to my pre-chemo face and you will too.

Thanks for the positive thoughts. I can't wait till the end of treatment to get back into a normal routine of diet and exercise. Before treatment I needed to do that but of course that's on hold and I'm happy to be maintaining.
