I went to my doctor yesterday to discuss going on this drug for preventing recurrence as well as bone loss. Turns out it's $1200 every 6 months. I'm in Canada where it's not covered. I'm 44yrs old & post menopausal from having my ovaries removed in sept as a preventative measure. I'm 1 yr out from treatment for stage 3 bc & am terrified of recurrence & want to do all I can. Any thoughts?

I get an infusion of pamidronate instead which is covered. I can't afford prolia either. Sorry to post in stage III forum, but saw your post & thought I would answer.

thanks gg27. Is that the same as Prolia as far as prevention of recurrence & osteoporosis?

I think that Prolia is the newer maybe a bit better drug than pamidronate. But yes, it's for bone strengthening & helps with recurrence. And it doesn't cost us $1200! They will do labs, calcium & creatinine to make sure your kidneys are ok.
