Survey seeking Latina women with breast cancer

Greetings and Happy New Year!

My name is Crystal Gutierrez and I am a graduate student at Colorado State University. I am currently involved in a study interested in the experience of breast cancer in Latina women and with permission from the moderators, I am asking for your aid.

We are reaching out to women, at least 18 years of age, who self-identify as Latina and have undergone breast cancer treatment in the last six months or are currently undergoing breast cancer treatment. If you meet these criteria, we would like you to take an anonymous online survey. Participation will take approximately 30 minutes. Your participation in this research is voluntary. If you decide to participate in the study, you may withdraw your consent and stop participation at any time without penalty.

We will not collect your name or personal identifiers. When we report and share the data to others, we will combine the data from all participants. While there are no direct benefits to you, we hope to gain more knowledge on the experience and distress that Latina women undergo during breast cancer treatment. All participants will be entered in a raffle for a $100 gift card to Amazon.com as a thank you for your participation.

There are very few potential risks associated with this survey. Thinking about and talking about your experience of breast cancer may cause sadness or distress. If this is the case, resources for counseling and support will be provided at the completion of the survey. It is not possible to identify all potential risks in research procedures, but the researcher(s) have taken reasonable safeguards to minimize any known and potential (but unknown) risks.
