hair - I delegated - like an old timey phone tree. I called or emailed one person and that person called several others who called ...etc. But I was very specific about who should be called or told. I didn't want everyone knowing all the details all the time. I also asked everyone NOT to call me since I was going to use my time sleeping & my energy healing.

I know there are cancer communication web sites but I'm not up on those.

Are you on Facebook? You can create a subgroup of close friends within Facebook, and communicate information that way. You create a post, and designate the audience as the subgroup.

You can also create a page on CaringBridge. Don't think of it as creating a website. You don't have to do anything complicated. If you have a smartphone, you can write health updates using the CaringBridge app, even post photos. Friends can post replies as well.

CaringBridge is not without its flaws. The site makes everyone "sign up" by providing their email address, to access your site. That's tedious for some people. And, the website has posts that encourage your friends to contribute money, which makes it sound like the money goes to you, the patient, when actually CaringBridge gets the money.

I urge you to try CB. You can always shut the site down later, if you don't like it. You also can keep all the posts private, and use it as your journal.

I started a CB page when I was just diagnosed, not knowing how long I had to live. Now, I post whenever I have news. I prefer to not talk about my cancer all the time on FB. When my friends read my CB posts, they know it's about cancer.

Occasionally, I share my CB post on my FB page. There are always new friends who I have forgotten to tell about my CB site, and this introduces them to CB.

Your friends can sign up to receive an alert whenever you create a new CB post, so you don't have to call and tell people that you have "breaking news." (Lol)

I definitely prefer written communication to phone calls. If you tell 4 friends to each call 6 people with your cancer news, I'm willing to bet that half of them will call you, which increases fatigue. With an online page, I could express thanks and answer questions on MY timetable
