Dating?!? Kissed for the First Time in Two Years

Hi there.

I got diagnosed with breast cancer in late April 2014 and since that May, I have not dated, kissed or hooked up. For the most part, I haven't thought about it. A quick history, I've had complication after complication with my health so I'm only starting to feel better now.

I met a neighbor recently who confessed to having a crush on me. He's very nice. We've gone out a couple of times and kissed a bunch.

Here's the deal. It's nice. I'm glad that I remember how. I'm not getting warm, fuzzy feelings. I'm not actually sure I'm capable of them. I'm also finding it weird to be back in something where you kiss, then kiss and touch, going down a path towards sex which I haven't had in over 2 years either.

Have any of you felt this way? Thinking you want to get back to life and dating but not prepared for the realities of it? Did you keep waiting or did you rip that bandaid off?

: ) Thank you and Happy Holidays.

Amy

Hi Amy, I see no one has responded to your post and since I'm new here, I'll respond. I'm kinda in the same boat. Finished rads in fall, did mx left side and finished chemo in 2016. On Tamox now. Just turned 40, and single, so trying to get back to dating scene and the same thing has happened to me....that I wonder if I'm gonna get clear signals from my body, no butterflies sometimes!! 😖. Recently went out with a guy who kissed me on our first date, and I think he flipped the switch. I felt old butterflies! So, I think it will get better for you and for us!
