Hi All! I am BRCA2 + and have decided to do the preventative surgery. Been interviewing doctors at both Sloan & NYU and would appreciate any feedback on Richard Shaprio+ Nolan Karp and the surgeons at Sloan. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you!!

The wait for an appointment can be long, but I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Alexandra Heerdt at Sloane Kettering. Since yours is a preventative mastectomy, I think she is worth the wait.

Virgilio Sacchini at MSK was great and did a fine job. He operates at warp speed, but if you bring a list of questions, he'll sit down with you for as long as you need. And the packet of information that I got pre-surgery, together with the briefing from his office nurse, could not have prepared me more thoroughly.

Thank you for your replies! As far as Plastic Surgeons go, have you heard anything about Joseph Dayan? Is there is one in particular you would reccomend? Thank you!

I've had 2 separate MX this year with Dr Shapiro and been very happy both times, both with him and with all the nurses and other staff at NYU hospital and cancer center. I've heard from others at NYU that Dr Karp is very good. I am with his partner Dr Choi. Their office is extremely well run and although my reconstruction isn't quite finished yet, leaving aside the scars the results so far are looking better than the originals.
