Radiation and Low WBC

Hi All,

So...I had a CBC and some other blood work done today. Mainly to check my WBC - as it was only 2.9 before even I started radiation. The RN called to tell me I need to repeat the CBC in a week because my WBC is 1.9.

She said radiation can make WBC go down.(I have 27 of 33 radiation treatments left...)

Has anybody else experienced a drop in WBC during radiation??? I'm freaking out about this and had no idea it was this low!!

I believe the average range for WBC is 4.0 to 11. My count dropped to 1.4 during chemo and the docs started taking about transfusion. During rads it hung around 4.2. Could your low numbers be a carry over from your chemo treatments?
