Thanks to an old reconstruction that leaked, I had to have a new implant. But that one showed through in a small incision that split open after the stitches were removed, so it had to be taken out, also. The doc said I needed 2 months of healing before any more surgeries. Last Thursday, I had another reconstruction, with Alloderm and a new implant. It looks really terrible. I regret having this done at all. Has anyone else had this experience? When I called the plastic surgeon, I was crying and very depressed. He told me the implant needed 2-3 months to "drop" and settle into a more normal appearance. I really have my doubts. What's there now is very firm and totally unyielding. I will see him again in a few weeks to have the stitches removed (this thing looks like a road map now), but I remain very depressed. I have not been without a false breast, except for these few months and 6 months after my original mastectomy many years ago. While I'm delighted to be a long term survivor, I am not happy with this mess. This was my 5th surgery, plus the mastectomy, on this same side. I am thinking of going flat again and living with the prosthesis.
