Vitamin K2, calcium and vitamin D
So what and how much does everyone take for bone loss or to prevent bone loss?

My Pharmacist just prescribed me Vit D3 800IU (equivalent to 20 micrograms daily as my Vit D levels were low because of Taking Femara since 2014
-
I'm taking Vit D drops 6000 IUs daily and 1000 mcg of Vit K2. My Vit D levels average around 60, and my MO loves that (so do I). I don't take calcium.

1200 mg calcium daily, 5000 D3 daily. I'm on Coumadin can't do K.
-
Vit D3 4000 U per day, Vit K2 100 micrograms per day (claireinAZ - 1000 mcg? just wondering if this is a typo?), and Slow Mag which has 143 mg of magnesium + 238 mg of calcium. I may bump my calcium up but I also drink about 6-8 oz. of skim milk (300 mg Ca) and about 8 oz. of calcium fortified almond milk (450 mg Ca) each day, as well as fat free yogurt (about 400 mg Ca).

Vit D - 5000 IU. Calcium 1480 mg. VIt K - 30 mcg
-
Is this what everyone's doctor recommended? Mine didn't tell me anything!
-
I take 500 mg of calcium twice per day. My calcium has 400 IU of vitamin D with each dose. I take an adfitional1,000 IU of Vitamin D per day.
I am having my Vitamin D levels checked next week, so I'll see if I need to adjust it

Sophiee - as with everything else about this darn disease, each of us has different body chemistry and each doc has his/her own protocol. You need to talk to one of your docs - MO, OB/Gyn or PCP.
-
MinusTwo I am going to talk to my doctor. I was looking it up online and found every website says something different so I was just wondering what everyone was taking.
-
first I got my vitamin d level measured, and then tried different levels of supplementation to get my level up. I get mine tested every four months, so maybe get a baseline and go from there?
-
My onc prescribed high-dose vitamin D to get me into the right range, then 2000 iu D3 per day to maintain. We check my levels every six months. She cited research that says calcium supplements can cause cardiovascular problems without preventing fractures, and advised me to get calcium from my diet. She also advocates weight-bearing exercise. I also try to get a little sun on my skin (with sun hat to shield face) when I can.
-
also girls the literature says Vit D can cause calcium deposits in your blood so please get your bloods checked by your Dr regularly.

It may be that vitamin K2 is important to keep the calcium out of arteries and into bones. So along with taking my vitamin D3, I make sure to eat K2 foods. My choices include organic poultry and eggs, and some kinds of grass-fed cheese, including cheddar, edam, gouda. (Meat and natto are also K2 sources, but I don't eat meat and am wary of soy.)
