5 days post surgery and awaiting results for further treatment

I have had a lumpectomy and all my lymph nodes removed after cancer was found in my sentinel node. it was not the result I expected, it was a grade 3 and now I am waiting to see what further treatment I will have. it is hormone receptive but her2 negative. I think I will be on Arimadex and definitely radiotherapy but will I need chemo. just so worried.

The waiting to figure out the next step is terrible--I'm so sorry! Your surgeon may talk to you about chemo or may have you consult with a medical oncologist to help you make the decision. Because it was in the lymph node, they may recommend chemo. Some people have a test, like Oncotype or Mammaprint, but I'm less certain how that works if you're node-positive. You can use Predict to take a general look at the benefit of chemo in your case. (You can try clicking third generation for the kind of chemo you would get although you don't know at this time.)

It is terrible waiting for those results...I remember. My best advice is to prepare yourself for chemo and if you don't need it, that's a bonus.

Have your questions ready, your fears, and line someone up to go with you to take notes to Breast Surgeon or Oncologist because your brain goes numb. But you already know about that already!

PATH report normally comes out within 10 days. The waiting time really sucks.

It is good to have ER or PR + and her2 -. Because Node is involved. most likely chemo will be recommended.

If you have any uncertain about your PATH report or treatment plan, maybe seek for a second opinion should also be considered.
